If writing had never been invented, can you imagine what our world would be like? In the first place, if there had been no writing, there would be no books and without books there would be no rapid development of science and technology.

On the other hand, if writing had not been invented, people's memories would be much better than now. In some parts of the world which are unaffected by modern civilization, we can find illiterate men who can recite long poems faultlessly.
