EASTER EGG

Easter eggs are little surprises hidden within a variety of digital media, including films. The practice made its first appearance in the 1979 Atari video game Adventure and has since become a popular way for game developers to reward players with unexpected images and messages.

In movies, Easter eggs are “unlocked” in the sense that they require a keen eye or multiple viewings to become apparent. A few examples: R2-D2 and C-3PO appear as hieroglyphs in Raiders of the Lost Ark; the Pizza Planet truck from Toy Story shows up in every Pixar film but one; and Alfred Hitchcock has brief cameos in 39 of his films.

Blockbuster

A blockbuster is a standout movie that is a major box office success. Generally, a movie has to gross at least $200 million to be considered a blockbuster (e.g., Jaws, Avengers: Endgame). 

Blue Screen

A blue screen (aka green screen) is an evenly-lit, monochromatic background actors perform in front of. The blue (or green) is then replaced with the desired background through chroma-keying. Many films made today heavily utilize blue or green screens. 

Montage

A montage is a French term meaning “assembling shots” or “putting together.” It’s a film technique for putting together a series of short shots that create a composite picture. The montage in Rocky of the titular character shows us how hard he’s worked to compete in the final match.

蒙太奇

蒙太奇是一个法语术语，意思是“组合镜头”或“组合在一起”。“这是一种将一系列短镜头组合在一起形成合成画面的电影技术。《洛奇》中的蒙太奇向我们展示了他是如何努力地在决赛中搏斗的。
