New word of the day.
Sublime….
Sublime is an adjective and it means….
Of such excellence, grandeur or beauty as to inspire great admiration or awe.
For example….
Mozarts sublime piano concertos
Or…
Experiences that ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous.
Another way to say sublime is….
Exalted. Elevated…noble…lofty…aw-inspiring..
Now, these are all good words to use!!
In fact, we use these words all the time in normal daily talk. However, this word is not used that often as you would think. You don’t go walking around and say, oh my! This cake is sublime!!
It is usually used as a way to describe something but usually only on tv or in books. So its kinda book English.
Remember, spoken English and book English are super different. That is why you should be careful when you use a dictionary to translate a word from your language into English..
Ok, that’s all the time that we have for now, remember!! The day is sublime and I hope that you have a great day!!
How about you? Why don’t you try to use this word in a sentence or show me your own way of saying something is sublime?
That’s all the time I have for today, talk later…tata!!
Zai jian!!
Also, xing nian qui le!! (don’t mind my Chinese, I am still learning!!)
比以前有趣多了!It's much more interesting than before.
