How hot could the Earth get? 54.4°C! You read that right. The world’s highest temperature has been reached in Death Valley National Park in California. The U.S. National Weather Service announced the news on August 16.
“It’s so hot and it’s in your face.” said Brandi Stewart. She has worked at the national park for five years. She spent a lot of her time indoors in August. Why? Because it was too hot to be outside.
What were the previous(之前的) records? Before 54.4°C, the highest temperature was 54°C in 2013. It was also record in Death Valley!
In 1931, 55°C was recorded in Tunisia(突尼斯). However, many experts said this one could not be trusted.
