三只小猪 Part 2
The two little pigs crouched in a corner, trembling with fear, they could hear the big, bad, wolf outside, laughing, ho, ho, ho, then he said. “Little pigs, little pigs, let me in!”
“Not by the hair on our chinny-chin-chins! We will not let you in!” Replied the little pigs.
“Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down!” Shouted the wolf. He drew in a deep breath, and he huffed! The little house of sticks wobbled! The wolf drew in another deep breath, and he puffed! The little house of sticks shuddered! The wolf drew in another deep breath and he blew the house of sticks down! Sticks were flying everywhere, and in the confusion, the little pigs managed to run away, but the big, bad, wolf, was chasing them! The little pigs ran as fast as their chubby little legs could carry them, but they could feel the steaming, stinky breath of the wolf on their necks, they both thought that they were about to become the wolf’s dinner! Then, they turned a corner and there was Practical pig’s house of bricks! Large, strong, and sturdy, with Practical pig at the door! Fun pig and Care-free pig ran into Practical pig’s house - he slammed the door shut and locked it. Fun pig and Carefree pig, hugged each other, trembling in the corner.
“What are you frightened of?” Asked Practical pig.
“In case you haven’t noticed, there’s a big, bad, wolf outside!” Said Fun pig and care-free pig.
“Ha! Don’t worry about him. We’re safe here inside my house of bricks.” Said Practical pig.
“Don’t be so sure of that.” Said care-free pig. “both our houses were blown down by the big, bad, wolf.”
“I told you – straw and sticks won’t protect you against a beast like that. But he’s going to have trouble blowingthis house down!” Said Practical pig.
From outside they could hear the wolf laughing, “ho, ho, ho!” then he said. “Little pigs, oh, little pigs, let me in!”
“Not by the hair on our chinny-chin-chins! We will not let you in!” Answered the three little pigs.
“Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down!” Shouted the wolf.
“Ha! Try it, wolfy!” Shouted Practical pig.
The big, bad, wolf drew in a deep breath, then he huffed with all his might! Nothing happened, the house of bricks didn’t tremble, wobble, shake, or shudder. He drew in another, deeper breath, then he puffed with all his might! Nothing happened! The house of bricks stood secure and solid, unmoved. So, the wolf drew in an even deeper breath, and he blew at the house of bricks with every last bit of strength he could muster! Nothing happened to the house of bricks! It remained standing, safe and sound! Inside Fun pig and Care-free pig were amazed, they started dancing around happily, but Practical pig kept an eye on the wolf, for he knew that wolf was a cunning beast. He could see the wolf looking up towards the roof.
“Quick, get a pot of water boiling over the fire!” Said Practical pig. Fun pig and Care-free pig were prepared to take orders now, seeing how clever their brother was, so they did as they were told and put a big pot of water on the fire to boil. Practical pig fed the fire and blew on it to make the flames higher. Very soon the water was bubbling and steaming.
Outside, the wolf had seen the chimney pot on the roof! He had a cunning plan! Quickly, he climbed up onto the roof, using the drainpipe and he scuttled over to the chimney pot.
Inside the house, Practical pig shouted up the chimney. “If you come down here, you’ll be sorry!”
“Ho, ho, ho!” Laughed the wolf, “I’ll have three, chubby little pigs for my dinner tonight!”
Practical pig took the lid off the pot of boiling water – the wolf climbed into the chimney and fell, down, down, down! Into the pot! Practical pig quickly put the lid on the pot and let the wolf boil for forty minutes, then the three little pigs, instead of being the wolf’s dinner, had the big, bad, wolf fortheir dinner! He lasted a long time, and they were eating wolf sandwiches for three weeks after! And as Practical pig always thought things through, he had made the house of bricks big enough for three little pigs to live in, and so, live there they did, happily ever after.
