(1)Rev.：这里应该指的是前文提到的Robinson Duckworth，此人全名为Reverend Robinson Duckworth，是和道奇森一起划船的人。有趣的是，道奇森在《爱丽丝漫游仙境》中将他作为一个动物写了进去，是谁呢？我们后面慢慢讲。

(2)Mrs. George MacDonald：乔治·麦克唐纳夫人，她的原名是路易萨（Louisa），和苏格兰作家乔治·麦克唐纳结婚，在这里从夫姓，称为Mrs. George MacDonald。夫妇二人是道奇森的好友，对于《爱丽丝漫游仙境》的创作提出了很多建议。夫妇二人生有多个孩子，其中一个儿子名叫Greville，非常喜欢《爱丽丝漫游仙境》。

2. Macmillan出版小说

Now Dodgson needed a publisher（出版商）, and he found one through another happy accident. On October 19, 1863, he went by invitation to visit the director of the Clarendon Press（克拉伦登出版社）and Printer of Oxford University, Thomas Combe（托马斯·库姆）(1797—1872). Dodgson had frequently visited Combe and his wife at home and he had already photographed the strikingly handsome Combe. But on that evening, he recorded in his diary, he went expressly “to meet the publisher Macmillan（麦克米兰）to get him to print some of Blake’s Songs of Innocence, etc., on large paper.” (ix)

(1)Thomas Combe：英国著名书商，正是在此人的一次聚会上，道奇森得以结识麦克米兰。

(2)Macmillan：麦克米兰，原名亚历山大·麦克米兰(Alexander Macmillan)，和其兄长丹尼尔·麦克米兰共同创办麦克米兰出版社，将一个小书店变成了世界闻名的出版社，正是麦克米兰慧眼识珠，看出了《爱丽丝漫游仙境》的价值，该书才得以出版，变成了世界流行的小说。1869年，亚历山大·麦克米兰远见卓识，将目光转向杂志刊物，创办了驰名世界的《自然》杂志（Nature）。
