Let’s hear the words we learned today.
I was parked in front of the mall wiping off my car.
·mall: a large building or covered area that has many shops, restaurants , etc. inside it.
Coming my way from across the pang lot was
what society would consider a bum.
·bum: a person who has no home or job and who asks other people for money or food.
He came and sat on the curb in front of the bus stop.
·curb: the edge of the raised path at the side of a road, usually made of long pieces of stone.
He didn’t look like he could have enough money to even ride the bus.
He was ragged but he had an air of dignity.
·rag: wearing very old torn clothes.
·dignity: the ability to behave in a way that shows you respect yourself and stay calm, even in a very difficult situation.
I was feeling high and mighty…
·high and mighty: talking or behaving as if you think you are more important than other people.
Maybe the man was just a homeless stranger wandering the streets.
·wander: to move slowly across or around an area, without a clear direction or purpose.
No matter how loaded you are with problems…
·load: be loaded with means full, to be full of a particular quality, attitude etc, or contain a lot of something, especially something bad: Your papers’s loaded with spelling mistakes.
