There was once a dark and very old forest. Many of the trees in this forest were a thousand years old, and it had laid untouched from the beginning of time.

曾经有一片黑暗而古老的森林。这片森林里的许多树都有一千年的树龄，而且从古至今，都没有人来过这里

However, one little tree had been planted. He was an Oak tree. His Daddy was the tallest and the most famous trees in the forest.

然而，一颗小树在这里发芽了。他是一棵橡树。他的爸爸是森林里最高且最有名的树

Daddy Oak was covered in a thick green moss and wrapped in dark green vines. Each of these trees was special, but some of these trees were more so, because these trees could talk:

Well, I see rolling hills of green, A beautiful river flowing through a valley. The river is sacred, it feeds our lands. The birds fly joyfully in the air! And the lambs follow their mothers, happy and content.

Well you will just have to have patience! Said the willow tree. She was a very good friend of the Oak trees.

She too was tall and elegant. With beautiful long branches and an abundance of leaves.

哇，我等不及要长大了，可以看到跟你一样的景色，爸爸。

你必须要有耐心!柳树说。她是橡树的好朋友。

她又高又优雅，长者美丽的长枝和丰富的树叶。

I remember when I was your size I was keen as anything to grow up, do not worry child, enjoy being small. Once you grow up, you will be tall for a very long time.

Okay, said the baby oak.

我记得当我还是你这么大的时候，我渴望做一切能做的事情来长大，不要担心孩子，享受童年的小时候吧。一旦你长大了，你将会长得很高。

Now, you must sleep. Little one, rest your eyes. The two trees then sang the Child to sleep.

But the baby oak was tormented by nightmares. Dark faceless creatures tormented him. Evil shadows, cutting and burning, invading the beauty of the earth. He saw immense roaring fires and felt the essence of life was trapped.

Daddy Oak and the willow tree watched the baby oak. They understood he was having nightmares.

Willow tree said to Daddy Oak: Do you think we should tell him?

No, he is an innocent tree. He would not understand.

But one day he will grow up Mr. Oak, he will see the earth for how it truly is!

He in not time at all will be as tall as I am. I can see over the top of the tree, over their leaves. I see what is in the distance and he will see in an instance. He will see it in time

Those were the days when baby oak was only six foot tall, now he was as big as Willow tree, and growing fast Woow willow said, how tall you have grown over these seventy five years!

Willow was starting to bend over, and didn’t often grow leaves. Willow trees don’t live that long.

I know willow, I sure would like to see whats beyond the forest.

柳树开始弯下身子，也不常长叶子了。柳树活不了那么久。

As he had grown older the nightmares had gotten worse and more detailed, not only that but he started to feel it when he was awake too.

随着年龄的增长，噩梦变得越来越严重，越来越真实详尽，不仅如此，他醒来时也开始有这种感觉。

Maybe I could walk to the edge and see!

Trees don’t walk! That would be a sin!

But why not?

Don’t you answer me back, I never want to hear you say that ever again.

Baby Oak said nothing.

也许我可以走到森林边缘去看看!

树不会走路!那将是一种罪孽!

但为什么不呢?

别跟我顶嘴，我再也不想听你说那种话了。。

小橡树什么也没说

A dark magic is working in these woods, he said to himself, One night, as willow and Mr. Oak were sleeping,

一天晚上，当柳树和橡树先生正在睡觉的时候，他自言自语说道，这片树林里肯定有一种黑魔法在影响我们。 

Another hundred years passed and it was finally time! He could finally see over the trees, but he did not like what he saw.

一百年过去了，时间飞逝，他终于能看到树林之外的景象，然而但他一点也不喜欢眼前的景象

There was a kingdom of huge Rats that had built a castle next to the river. Not only that but they had built a dam stopping the river from flowing. The lands were dry and acrid of where they had settled

从前有一个巨大的老鼠王国，他们在河边建了一座城堡。不仅如此，他们还建了一座水坝，阻止了河水的流动。他们所定居的地方，到处都是干旱，和刺鼻的气味。
