【人在武汉】周鑫涛（华中科技大学）：相信武汉会挺过去

My name is Zhou Xintao. I work at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology. My home is in Donghu District, Wuhan.

The infectious disease has affected our life and work toa great extent. Our minds have also gone through a complex process. The disease was initially discovered in late December. However, people didn’t pay enough attention to it and the prevention measures against it until around January 20. Attention came after respiratory expert Zhong Nanshan visited Wuhan and the government released a series of warnings as well as control measures. 

When we heard the news that Wuhan would be locked down,we had a short panic. We didn’t know what it meant, but we were aware the situation was more severe than we originally thought. Therefore, I considered taking my family out of Wuhan before the traffic outbound was completely sealed off. But we eventually returned to calm and reason. Based on our trust in the government and our country, we decided to stay. We believe Wuhan will survive.

Now my family is living a peaceful and routine life. We don’t go outside. Thanks to the TV and Internet our life is not boring. We have a sufficient food supply at home. We have no major problems.
