When they reached the ocean, 
Kipling waved goodbye to Mama. 
She called, "I'll be back home soon!" 
当企鹅们抵达大洋的时候，
Kipling向妈妈挥手告别，
妈妈说：“我很快就会回来的。”  


But Mama didn't come home for dinner or at bedtime. 

但是妈妈没有回家吃晚饭，
也没有在上床睡觉的时候回来。 


In the morning, 
Kipling looked everywhere for Mama. 
But Pillow Mama wouldn't read, 
Picture Mama wouldn't laugh... 
早上起来，
Kipling到处找妈妈。
但是枕头妈妈不能帮他阅读，
图片上的妈妈也不会笑。 


...and Snow Mama was too cold to cuddle. 
雪人妈妈又是这样的冰冷，连抱都不能抱一下。  


Kipling lined up his wishing rocks and made a wish for Mama on each one. 
He waited and waited, but not even one Wish Mama came home. 
Kipling用小石子排成了一条愿望的线，
他向每一块石头许愿，希望妈妈早点回来。
他等啊等啊，
但是连一个让妈妈回来的愿望都没有实现。 




Then the doorbell rang. 
It wasn't Mama. 
It was just a sad, soggy box. 
Kipling shook the box. 
It rustled and thunked and smelled like the sea. 
He peeked inside. 
这时候门铃响了，
但是不是妈妈回来了，
却是一个惨兮兮湿漉漉的盒子。
Kipling摇了摇这个盒子，盒子发出沙沙的响声，
里边好像有点东西，闻起来有一股大海的味道，
他悄悄的打开了盒子。 


It was from Mama! 
She had sent him a box of his favorite things, 
and a paper heart that read: Dear Kipling, 
这个盒子是妈妈寄来的，
她给他寄来了一些他喜欢的东西，
一张纸上写着，亲爱的Kipling， 


My love for you stretches across the wide ocean,  
我对你的爱穿越了宽广的大洋， 


through day and night, 
穿越了白天和黑夜， 


from earth to sky and back again,  
从地上到天上， 


from my heart to yours. 
Love, Mama. 
Kipling hugged the heart, 
just like Mama in the picture. 
然后回到了你的身边。
从我的心里到你的心里，爱你的妈妈。
Kipling拥抱着这颗心，
就像妈妈在图片里抱着那颗心这样。 


Then Kipling found his own box and made his own heart for Mama. 
His wish for Mama would stretch from earth to sky,  
然后Kipling找到了他自己的盒子，
为妈妈做了一张他自己的心。
他希望妈妈能从地上到天上，  


through day and night, across the wide ocean, 
穿越白天和夜晚，穿越宽广的大洋， 


and back again. 
然后再次回到他的身旁。 


Mama! She was home at last. 
Mama was home for dinner, and bedtime, 
妈妈，她终于回家了。
妈妈到家来吃晚饭了，妈妈到家来讲睡前故事了。
 
and all the hugs in between. 
然后一直把他搂在怀里。
