The Nusr-Et steak restaurant in Dubai, owned by Turkish celebrity chef Salt Bae, is offering guests gold-plated hunks of beef for ￡268 a pop. The swanky steak, incidentally, is covered with 24-karat gold leaf, which is safe to eat as pure gold is chemically inert. This means the precious metal passes through the digestive system without being absorbed into the body.

Scientists have raised the stakes in the battle of the sexes over office air conditioning by discovering women's brains work better at higher temperatures. Men, on the other hand, work better when the temperature is cooler, according to a study published in the journal "PLOS One".

The study, conducted in Germany, tested the ability of 500 men and women to perform a series of tasks at a variety of temperatures. At higher temperatures, women perform better on maths and verbal tasks while the reverse is true for men. According to an earlier study published in "Nature Climate Change", women are suited to an average office temperature about 3C warmer than men.

Health officials have long warned that slumping, whether at a computer or in front of the television, is a sure-fire route to crippling back and neck pain – or worse.

Avobenzone（阿伏苯宗） in sunscreens is the most popular sun-blocker in the world due to its ability to absorb sunlight at different wave lengths - preventing skin damage. But scientists suggest the UV-filtering compound forms cancer-causing toxins when exposed to a mixture of sun and chlorinated water. Aldehydes（醛类）, phenols（酚类） and chlorinated acetyl benzenes were created in experiments simulating swimmers wearing sunscreen.

And if water contains copper salts - which are added into many swimming pools for getting nice light-blue color - then bromoform（三溴甲烷） is formed in large quantities. This substance could provoke dysfunctions of liver and kidneys - along with nervous system disorder, the experts implied.
