US President Donald Trump presented Tiger Woods with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor, on Monday, calling the golf star "a true legend". Trump described the 43-year-old as "one of the greatest athletes in the history of sports and a global symbol of American excellence, devotion and drive". 

6日，美国总统特朗普向高尔夫球星泰格•伍兹颁发总统自由勋章，并称伍兹是"真正的传奇"。总统自由勋章是美国向平民授予的最高国家级荣誉。特朗普称，43岁的伍兹是"体育史上最伟大的运动员之一，他向全世界展示了美国人民杰出、专注以及充满干劲的品质"。

With 81 PGA Tour victories, Woods is one shy of Sam Snead's all-time record, and with 15 major tournament victories, he trails only Jack Nicklaus, who has 18.

But it was his dramatic Masters victory at Augusta National Golf Club last month, ending an 11-year major championship drought, that capped a years-long comeback from injuries and drama in his personal life.

It may sound too good to be true, but an Italian town is set to sell 500 homes for less than $2. Mussomeli in southern Sicily has put 100 empty properties up for sale online for $1.6, with another 400 expected to follow.

Some of the homes are very small, but are made up of multiple bedrooms and offer stunning views across the Italian countryside. The local government signaled the houses were available by putting signs on the doors - but there is a catch. Anyone who buys a house has to renovate it within three years or face losing their deposit, which is $8,000.

Restoring the homes has been valued at about $107 per square foot as well as admin costs of $4000 to $6450. Local architects and engineers are on hand to help with the work but buyers can choose to get outside help if they prefer. The move comes as Italians have left the rural areas for cities in recent years. It has forced local authorities to sell off empty houses for the knock-down prices.

Sunscreen enters bloodstream

It took just one day of use for several common sunscreen ingredients to enter the bloodstream at levels high enough to trigger a government safety investigation, according to a pilot study conducted by the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, an arm of the US Food and Drug Administration. 

根据美国食品和药物管理局下属的药品评价和研究中心开展的一项初步研究，防晒霜中的几种常见成分在涂抹一天后就会进入血液，且浓度高到足以启动政府安全调查。

"Looking through the results tables of the study, one thing about oxybenzone stood out," said David Andrews, senior scientist at the EWG. Oxybenzone is one of a dozen chemicals that the FDA recently said needed to be researched by manufacturers. "Oxybenzone was absorbed into the body at about 50 to 100 times higher concentration than any of the other chemicals they tested," he added.

Studies have shown a potential link between oxybenzone and lower testosterone levels in adolescent boys, hormone changes in men, and shorter pregnancies and disrupted birth weights in babies. So, should you stop using sunscreen?

Absolutely not, the sun is the real enemy, experts say. When going outside, the American Academy of Dermatology recommends applying at least 1 ounce of sunscreen to all exposed skin every two hours or after swimming. 

专家说，绝对不行，烈日才是真正的敌人。美国皮肤科学会建议，外出时每隔两小时或游泳后要在裸露的皮肤上涂抹至少1盎司的防晒霜。

清华首度登顶北大第五

China's Tsinghua University claimed the number one spot in the Times Higher Education (THE)'s Asia University Rankings 2019, becoming the first university on the Chinese mainland to top the list. Tsinghua University knocked National University of Singapore off the top, which has held onto the number one ranking since 2016 and has now dropped to second place. 

泰晤士高等教育日前发布2019年亚洲大学排名，清华大学位列第一，成为中国内地首个登顶该榜单的高校。自2016年以来一直占据该榜单首位的新加坡国立大学此次退居第二。

Tsinghua University's move further up the list was due to a large boost in the scores for teaching environment, citation impact and international outlook. 

清华大学排名进一步上升得益于其在教学环境、论文引用影响力和国际前景等方面的分数大幅提高。

THE noted that overall, 72 Chinese universities feature in the ranking, up from 63 last year. Peking University dropped two places to 5th, which is attributed to declines in its research income and industry income scores.

泰晤士高等教育指出，今年共有72所中国大学上榜，多于去年的63所。北京大学的排名下降了两位，降至第5位，这是由于其研究收入得分和行业收入得分下降所致。
