在美国，有个日子叫Senior Skip Day或Senior Ditch Day,

简称Skip Day或Ditch Day.

Senior Skip Day is the day when all the seniors in high school skip school and go else where.

Senior ditch day is also considered to be an opportunity for the whole senior class to spend time together to socialize and say goodbye.【socialize v.交际I enjoy socializing with my schoolmates.】

There is no better way than a nice outdoor picnic to achieve that goal. People come together with food, team games like soccer and volleyball, music and conversation. A senior ditch day at the park is a relaxed atmosphere where everyone can hang out together.【hang out with sb; I like hanging out with my friends on weekends.】

A pool party or beach party is another fun way to end senior year as a group. Activities like beach volleyball, marco polo, swimming races and diving competitions can bring together the whole group. Senior Skip Day is commonly held on the Monday after Senior prom.

【注：A prom is a formal dance party for high school students. This event is typically held near the end of the senior year (the last year of high school). 男士会穿正式礼服（tuxedos），女生穿上连衣裙（dresses）.】

In the Eastern United States , senior skip day is also celebrated on the last Friday before Spring Break. Some schools openly encourage the practice, helping the students pick a day to take off and advising teachers not to schedule quizzes or exams on the given skip day.

This is an unofficial tradition, but the practice has been in effect since at least the 1970s. At Caltech, "Ditch Day" has become an annual tradition.（Caltech = California Institute of Technology ）
