钢琴师和一个老妇人

John was a very famous pianist.

约翰是一个著名的钢琴师。

When he was a small boy，he once played at a party in the home of a rich man.

他很小的时候，有一次，他在一个有钱人的派对上演奏钢琴。

He was only eight years old, but he had played the piano for several years.

当时他只有8岁，但是他弹钢琴已经好几年了。

At the party he played a famous piece by Beethoven.

在聚会上，他演奏了贝多芬的钢琴曲。

He played wonderfully.

他演奏得非常棒。

The famous piece has several long rests in it.

这个著名的乐曲里面有许多长时间的停顿。

In each of these rests he took his hands away from the piano and waited.

在每次停顿处，他的手都会远离钢琴。

To him this was very exciting, but the mother of the rich man thought differently.

他感到非常兴奋。但是那名富人的母亲却有着不同的看法。

Finally, during one of these rests she came over to him.

在停顿期间，那名母亲走到了他的身旁。

She touched him on the head, smiled and said, "My boy, why don't you play us what you know well?"
