coast 海岸  指海洋与陆地的分界线 地理术语。


on the coast 
I used to live in a small village on the coast (=on the land near the sea).
off the coast 
a small island off the coast (=in the sea near the land) of Scotland




seashore 海岸 湖或海的边缘或水边的狭长的陆地




on shore 
We had a couple of hours on shore (=not on a ship).
off shore 
The island is about three miles off shore (=away from the coast).
