女童子军的饼干来了！第22周

106年历史的女童子军组织仍然在今天生机勃勃备受欢迎。义务组织，民间付出，从小就开始耳濡目染。女童子军的饼干可是赫赫有名的。

Girl Scout is a 106 year old youth group specifically for girls. It is a very popular program among girls. I myself was a Girl Scout in elementary school. These Girl Scout troops are often based in schools and the troop members are schoolgirls. We do things to help out with the environment and world, such as organizing a beach cleanup or something like that. Each troop, depending on age, has its own activities or jobs to accomplish. The meeting theme was often related to our own lives some way. I remembered we learned first aid, table manners, and we visited a bank to learn how they work behind the window. After every job was done, we earned a badge to pin on our girl scout vest, which was our uniform. The color and style of the girl scout changed every year.

Lindsay 小学时候参加过几年的女童子军。同年龄段大约8-10个孩子编成一个队，学习符合年龄的技能，或者做一些手工或者外出活动。一个月活动一次。女孩子们都很期待的。

It was fun to be part of a troop and I felt like everyone in the troop was like my sister. We had 8 girls of the same grade to form a troop.  It was a great experience for me to open up and learn new things side by side with my friends. There is a troop leader and a troop assistant, volunteered by moms, who organized our meeting every month.

这些带队的妈妈们非常了不起，活动都是她们义务组织，内容和主意还要花心思。有一个韩国妈妈，在孩子们升级到下一个级别组的时候，给每个人用自己之前的制服背心做了一个小枕头存念，非常有心非常有爱。

Girl Scouts are most often known as the people who sell cookies. Girl Scout Cookies are so popular in US. People actually expect this! There are lots of different types of cookies and we sold them to family and friends. Some troops even set up stations in shopping malls or train stations. Selling cookies teaches the girls on how to be a good entrepreneur and helps us develop some good life skills of handling money and talking to people. The profits of the Girl Scout cookies are the main way Girl Scouts is funded. The portion of profit gained from selling goes to our troop activity fund.
