Hannibal was an educated psychologist who could not stand rude people. After escaping from his cage at the end of "the silence of the lambs", he worked incognito as the director of the art museum in Florence, Italy. Ten years later, clarice was a little less immature and a little more experienced. In the depths of her career, a letter from Hannibal expressing sympathy for her was, in effect, a formal "declaration of war" against her, since only clarice was qualified to be the "opponent" of the mild-mannered flesh-lover.
