3. XX is important to somebody 对某人很重要

This letter is important to (for) her. 这封信对她很重要。

表示你对某事很在意时，要说it is important to you，不要说it is important for you。

What is important to you is also important to me. 对你重要的事对我也重要。

Irrigation is important for farming. 灌溉对耕种是重要的。

 for强调客观，意思是“对于”；而to强调主观，指当事人的心理反应，或者可能做出的心理反应。
