1、作者吴承恩，明代小说家。字汝忠，号射阳山人。淮安阳山（今江苏淮安）人。

2、体裁：长篇神话小说。

3、主要内容：本书主要描述了孙悟空大闹天宫，唐僧出世和师徒四人西天取经等故事，赞扬了以孙悟空为主的师徒四人不畏艰险、百折不挠的可贵精神。由孙悟空大闹天宫、唐僧出世、孙悟空、猪八戒、沙僧一起保护唐僧取经等三大部分组成。

4、精彩情节：大闹天宫、三打伯骨精、车迟国斗法、女儿国遇难、真假美猴王、智取红孩儿、三调芭蕉扇、四圣试禅心等。

5、艺术特色：善于说故事,可读性强。善于塑造人物，形象十分鲜明。充满天马行空的想象和大胆奇特的夸张。

主要人物及其性格特点

孙悟空：桀骜不驯，敢作敢当，勇敢机智，爱憎分明，疾恶如仇，正直无私，行侠仗义，无所畏惧，敢于反抗压迫。

猪八戒：一方面好吃懒做，见识短浅，爱搬弄是非、耍小聪明，爱占小便宜，贪恋女色；另一方面又忠勇善良，战斗勇猛，知错能改，淳朴憨厚。

沙僧：忠厚诚恳，任劳任怨。

唐僧：崇信佛法，严守戒律，目标明确，立场坚定，勇往直前；但有时贤愚不分，好坏不辨。

在护送唐僧去西天取经途中，机智灵活、疾恶如仇的是 孙悟空 ；憨态可掬、好耍小聪明的是猪八戒，法名是猪悟能；忠诚老实、勤勤恳恳的是沙僧。
