To dox someone means to search for and publish private or identifying information about someone on the internet, typically with malicious intent.

Why is it called "dox"?

One explanation is that doxxing came from the phrase "dropping documents" and gradually "documents" became "dox", which has been used as a verb to referto the practice. 

一种解释是，doxxing来源于短语“dropping documents 寄送文件”，逐渐地，“documents”简化变成了“dox”，并被用作动词来指代这种行为。
