扩内需成为2024年经济工作重点

China is likely to take more steps to revive consumer demand and boost spending next year as it seeks to inject strong impetus into a consumption-led recovery amid pressure from subdued demand and property sector weakness, economists said. 

经济学家近日表示，中国明年可能会采取更多措施来重振消费需求，刺激消费，在需求不足、房地产行业疲软的压力下为消费拉动的经济复苏注入强大动能。

They said boosting consumption will be a key step in expanding domestic demand and reviving recovery momentum next year, and the focus should be placed on key tasks such as boosting spending on big-ticket items and enhancing services consumption.

专家表示，促进消费将会是明年扩大内需和重振经济复苏势头的关键一步，应聚焦于刺激大宗商品消费和提升服务消费等重点任务上。

Their comments came as the tone-setting annual Central Economic Work Conference, held in Beijing from Monday to Tuesday, said China still has to overcome some difficulties and challenges — such as lack of effective demand — to further revive the economy.

此前，为来年经济工作定下总基调的一年一度的中央经济工作会议于12月11日至12日在北京召开。会议指出，进一步推动经济回升向好需要克服一些困难和挑战，比如有效需求不足。

The meeting, which maps out priorities for next year's economic work, said China will focus on spurring domestic demand, and efforts should be made to stimulate potential consumption, expand effective investment, and form a virtuous cycle between consumption and investment.

会议指出，中国将着力扩大国内需求，激发有潜能的消费，扩大有效益的投资，形成消费和投资相互促进的良性循环。

Wang Wei, former head of the Institute of Market Economy at the Development Research Center of the State Council, said the meeting signals more measures to boost domestic demand and expand consumption next year, including spurring new types of consumption, encouraging the purchase of big-ticket items and continuously deepening reforms of the income distribution system.

国务院发展研究中心市场经济研究所原所长王微指出，中央经济工作会议提出明年将采取更多措施来扩大国内需求、推动消费增长，包括培育壮大新型消费，鼓励购买大宗消费品，持续深化收入分配制度改革。

According to the high-profile meeting, the development of digital consumption, green consumption and health consumption should be further promoted, and new growth areas such as consumption of smart home appliances, entertainment and tourism, sports activities and trendy domestic brands, should be fostered.

中央经济工作会议指出，将大力发展数字消费、绿色消费、健康消费，积极培育智能家居、文娱旅游、体育赛事、国货“潮品”等新的消费增长点。

New Oriental made its top livestreamer and former English tutor Dong Yuhui a senior partner at its online commerce unit on Monday after an earlier management dispute led to the ousting of Chief Executive Sun Dongxu.

新东方18日任命董宇辉成为其在线商务部门“东方甄选”的高级合伙人。此前，一场管理不当纠纷导致首席执行官孙东旭被免职。

The online controversy emerged in early December, when the subsidiary East Buy's social media content team upset some regular followers, leading to a boycott and stock price drop. By comparison, followers of Dong's account on Douyin reached over 21 million.

这场网络舆论始于12月初，当时东方甄选的社交媒体内容团队激怒了粉丝，导致其抵制活动，并造成该公司股价下跌。相比之下，董宇辉的抖音账号粉丝超过了2100万。

The controversy started over whether the entire editorial team or Dong alone should take credit for many acclaimed promotional materials and phrasing, and further escalated to whether East Buy was giving fair recognition and payment to Dong for his contribution.

East Buy Chairman and Chief Executive Yu Minhong and Dong's livestream session on Saturday attracted tens of millions of viewers. During a one-and-a-half hour long talk with Yu livestreamed on Saturday, Dong said he was staying with the company and enjoyed what he does at the moment, while Yu addressed internal management inadequacies and added that Sun's exit was unrelated to the controversy.

新东方教育集团董事长兼首席执行官俞敏洪和董宇辉16日的直播吸引了数千万观众。在与俞敏洪长达一个半小时的直播谈话中，董宇辉说他将继续留在公司，并表示享受他目前的工作。俞敏洪则指出了内部管理的不足，并补充说明孙东旭的免职与此次舆论无关。

East Buy's stock exchange filing over the weekend said the board of directors removed Sun from the post of executive president and executive director, but he remains a non-executive director at the firm.

17日晚间，东方甄选在港交所公告称，董事会已解除孙东旭的行政总裁一职，并罢免其公司执行董事职务。但孙东旭仍然留任东方甄选非执行董事。
