A century ago women were forbidden the franchise, could not sit on a jury or be admitted into the professions. Today, I am proud to serve as Britain’s second female prime minister in a Parliament with more female MPs than ever before. 

100年以前，英国女人被明令禁止参加选举投票，他们无法加入陪审团，也无法踏入专业政治领域，时至今日，我有幸成为英国史上第二任女首相，对此我深感自豪。如今，英国议会中的女性议员人数之多，更是前所未有。

In 2018, the United Kingdom’s most senior judge is a woman. The Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police is a woman. The Director of nal Crime Agency is a woman. Women serve as England’s Chief Fire Officer and Chief Medical Officer. The CBI and the TUC are both headed by women. 

2018年，英国最高法院资历最深的大法官是一位女性，伦敦大都会警察局局长是一位女性，应该国家犯罪调查局总干事是一位女性，英格兰消防处总长和首席医疗总监是女性，英国工业联合会和英国劳工联合会都有女性领导。

And as the woman at the head of our country’s government, a century after my grandmothers were first given the right to vote, my mission is clear. To build that better future for all our people, a country that works for everyone, and a democracy in which every voice is heard. 

在我的奶奶和祖母获得选举权的一个世纪后，我的使命清晰而明确，那就是：为所有国民建设一个更美好的未来，让英国成为一个为所有人服务，让所有人的声音都能被听到的民主国家。谢谢！
