A角：乌龟（the Turtle）

B角：兔子（the Rabbit）

第一幕

Turtle is in his shell.

乌龟躲在自己的壳里。

Turtle hears a sound.

外面好像有个声音？

He pokes his head out of his shell.

他把头探出来。

He sees Rabbit.

啊哈，原来是兔子。

“Good morning, Rabbit,” says Turtle.

“早上好啊，小兔。” 乌龟打了个招呼。

“Good morning, Turtle,” says Rabbit.

“早上好，乌龟。” 兔子回应道。

“I run very fast. Let’s have a race!” says Rabbit.

“我跑得可快了。我们来比比吧！” 原来兔子是无事不登三宝殿。

“I will show you how fast I am!”

“让你见识一下什么叫动如脱兔！”

“I cannot race you,” says Turtle.

“我可跑不过你。” 乌龟说。

“Why?” asks Rabbit.

“怎么这么说呢？” 兔子追问。

“You are very fast, but I am very slow,” says Turtle.

“你看，你这么快，可我跑得可慢了。” 乌龟有点无奈。

“I am the best. I will win!” says Rabbit.

“我是最棒的，肯定能赢你！” 兔子非常自信。

“I am slow, but I am steady,” says Turtle.

“我是跑得慢，但我耐力好。” 乌龟并不示弱。

“Okay, Rabbit, let’s run a race! I will do my best!”

“好，小兔，我跟你比！我一定会争取获胜的！”

第二幕

Rabbit and Turtle are ready to race.

兔子和乌龟已经准备好了。

All the animals are going to watch the race.

所有的动物都过来围观这场比赛。

Fox will tell them when to start.

发令员由狐狸担任。

“One, two, three, GO!” shouts Fox.

“各就各位，预备——跑！” 狐狸发令了。

Rabbit runs very fast.

兔子像离弦的箭一样蹿了出去。

Turtle walks very slowly.

乌龟慢吞吞地往前爬。

“Turtle is so slow.”

“乌龟慢得要命。”

“He will not catch me.”

“他绝对赶不上我。”

Rabbit lies down on the grass.

兔子边说边在草坪上躺下来。

“I have time to sleep.”

“这工夫，都够我睡一觉了。”

“He is too slow.”

“让他慢慢爬吧。”

She goes to sleep.

兔子放心地睡着了。

Turtle is walking very slowly.

乌龟还在慢吞吞地往前爬。

“I will not win the race.”

“我可能赢不了这场比赛了。”

But Turtle does not stop.

但是他并没有停下来。

He keeps walking very slowly.

一步一步地，往前爬。

The other animals shout,

其他的动物们都在给乌龟打气。

“You can do it, Turtle!”

长颈鹿鼓励他：“加油，乌龟！你可以的！”

“You can win the race!”

小猴子也为他加油：“你能赢下比赛！”

Turtle keeps walking.

乌龟还在一步一步往前爬。

He sees Rabbit sleeping on the grass.

他看到了正在草坪上呼呼大睡的兔子。

Now, he is in front of Rabbit.

现在，他已经超过兔子了。

“Maybe I will win the race,” thinks Turtle.

“也许我真的可以赢。” 乌龟心想。

The other animals shout, “Go, Turtle!”

围观的动物们还在呼喊：“加油，乌龟！”

Rabbit hears the animals shouting.

兔子迷迷糊糊中好像听到围观动物们在叫喊。

She wakes up.

她突然惊醒。

She sees Turtle in front of her.

不知什么时候，乌龟已经跑到自己前面去了！

Rabbit tries to catch up, but she can’t.

兔子开始追赶，但为时已晚。

Turtle wins the race!

乌龟率先冲过终点！

“Yay! You won, Turtle!” says Fox.

狐狸向他竖起大拇指：“恭喜你，乌龟，获得了胜利！”

“Yes!” says Turtle.

“是的，我赢了！” 乌龟非常高兴。

“Well done!” says Fox.

“干得漂亮！” 狐狸再次表扬他。

“It is better to move slowly than to rush,” says Turtle.

乌龟发表获胜感言：“欲速则不达。”

Slow and steady wins the race.
