Later that morning, Cinderella stopped (停止) doing her chores to answer a knock at the door. A messenger from the palace handed her an invitation (邀请函) to the ball that evening!

那天早上晚些时候，仙蒂停下了手里的活，去开门了。王宫里派来的信使递给了她一封当晚的舞会邀请函！

Lady Tremaine snatched the invitation and read it aloud. Her daughters squealed (尖叫) with excitement. When Cinderella asked if she could attend (参加) the ball, too, Lady Tremaine reluctantly (不情愿地) agreed.

特曼妮夫人夺过邀请函，大声念出来。她的女儿们都兴奋地尖叫着。当仙蒂问继母自己能否也去参加舞会时，特曼妮夫人不情愿地同意了。

“But only if you get all your work done, and only if you have something suitable to wear,” she said with a nasty (令人讨厌的) sneer (冷笑).

“不过那得在你做完所有工作，还找到一件像样的衣服之后，”她冷笑着说道。

In the attic, Cinderella found a dress that had once belonged to her mother. It was a bit old-fashioned (过时的), but Cinderella was sure she could fix it.

仙蒂在阁楼里找到了一条妈妈以前的裙子。虽然有点过时，但是仙蒂觉得自己能把它改好看。

Just as she was about to start sewing, her stepfamily called for her. There were many more chores to do. Cinderella sadly left the room—and her animal friends got right to work!

就在她准备动针线的时候，她的继母和姐姐们叫她了。他们又给了她很多活干。仙蒂难过地离开了房间——而她的动物朋友们要开始帮她干活了！

The clever animals found an old sash (肩带) and some beads (珠子). They stitched (缝合) the ornaments (装饰品) in place and turned the simple dress into a fabulous (华美的) gown!

这些聪明的动物们找到了一个旧肩带，还有一些珠子。他们把这些装饰都缝在了合适的地方，把这条简单的裙子变成了一条华美的长裙！

Cinderella was thrilled (非常激动的), and so grateful (感激的). Now she could go to the ball!

仙蒂激动极了，她心里充满感激。现在她可以去参加舞会了！

When Anastasia and Drizella saw how pretty Cinderella looked, they flew into a jealous rage. The stepsisters ripped (扯破) the dress, pulled off the sash, and yanked (猛拉) at the beads. Lady Tremaine simply stood and watched.

当安蒂和狄茜看到美丽的仙蒂时，她们嫉妒又愤怒。她们扯掉了仙蒂的裙子，拽掉了肩带，拉掉了珠子。特曼妮夫人就在一边站着看。

With no hope of going to the ball and meeting the Prince, Cinderella ran into the garden and sobbed (啜泣).

仙蒂去参加舞会、遇见王子的希望破灭了，她跑进花园里，抽泣起来。

As she kneeled (跪) there, twinkling (闪烁着) lights filled the air. Then a woman appeared. It was Cinderella’s fairy godmother (仙女教母)！

正当她跪在地上时，天空中闪烁着无数亮光。这时候一个女人出现了。是仙蒂的仙女教母！

The Fairy Godmother told Cinderella there was still time to attend the royal ball. With a wave of her magic wand, she transformed (变成) a simple pumpkin into an elegant coach (四轮大马车), and the mice into horses!

仙女教母告诉仙蒂，她还有时间去参加舞会。仙女挥动魔杖，她把一个简单的南瓜变成了一辆精致的马车，把老鼠们变成了马！

Then the Fairy Godmother pointed her magic wand (魔杖) at Cinderella and said, “Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!” Suddenly, Cinderella was wearing a stunning gown. On her feet were sparkling (闪闪发光) glass slippers (鞋).

然后仙女教母又把魔杖对准了仙蒂，说道：“哔哔滴-波哔滴-卟！”突然，仙蒂就穿上了一件华丽的礼服，脚上穿上了闪闪发光的水晶鞋。

Cinderella was off to the ball! The Fairy Godmother warned her to be home by midnight, when the spell would wear off.

仙蒂要出发去舞会了！仙女教母告诉仙蒂，她必须在午夜时分回到家里，因为那时候魔法就会消失了。
