白雪公主

Once upon a time, there lived a beautiful princess named Snow White (白雪公主). Her stepmother, the Queen (王后), was jealous (嫉妒) of Snow White’s beauty.

很久以前，有一位美丽的公主，叫白雪公主。王后是她的继母，她十分嫉妒白雪公主的美貌。

Every day the Queen would ask, “Magic mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?”

每天，王后都会问：“墙上的魔镜啊，谁是世界上最美的人？”

Each time the mirror would answer, “You are.”

每次，魔镜都会回答：“是你。”

But one day the mirror replied, “A lovely maid (少女) I see, who is more fair than thee.”

但是有一天，魔镜回答：“我看到一个美丽的少女，她比你更美丽。”

“It’s Snow White!” snarled (怒吼) the Queen.

“是白雪公主！”王后怒吼道。

At that moment, Snow White was in the courtyard (庭院) singing as she went about her chores (家务活).

而此刻，白雪公主正在庭院里一边干活，一边唱歌。

A handsome young prince was riding by and heard her lovely voice. He climbed the castle wall to find her. Shy Snow White ran up to her balcony (阳台).

一位年轻英俊的王子正骑马经过，他听见了白雪公主动听的声音。他爬上城堡的墙，找到了白雪公主。害羞的白雪公主立刻跑回了她的阳台。

From the courtyard below, the Prince sang to Snow White. She listened happily to his song, and did not see the evil (邪恶的)queen watching them.

王子就在下面的庭院里，对白雪公主唱起了歌。白雪公主开心地听着他唱歌，却没有看见邪恶的王后正盯着他们。

Enraged (暴怒)with jealousy, the Queen ordered her huntsman, “Take Snow White into the forest and kill her.”

王后妒火中烧，她给她的猎人下令，“把白雪公主带到森林里，杀了她。”

The huntsman led (带路)Snow White deep into the woods, but he could not harm her. “I can’t do as the Queen wishes!” he wept. “Run away, child, and never come back!”

猎人把白雪公主带到了森林深处，但他不忍心伤害白雪公主。“我没法照王后说的做！”他哭了。“快跑吧，孩子，永远不要回来！”

Snow White fled into the forest. As she ran, she felt haunting eyes watching her. The trees seemed to reach out to grab her.

白雪公主逃进了森林里。就在她跑的时候，她感到有许多好奇的眼睛盯着她，那些树好像也要伸出树枝来抓她。

With nowhere left to run, she fell(摔倒)to the ground and began to cry.

现在她没地方跑了，她摔倒在地上，哭了起来。

In the midst of (在…之中)her tears, Snow White looked up and found herself surrounded (环绕，包围) by forest animals. “Do you know where I can stay?” she asked them.

泪眼朦胧中，白雪公主抬头看了一眼，发现自己正被一群森林动物环绕着。“你们知道我能住在哪儿吗？”她问动物们。

The friendly animals led (带路)Snow White to a tiny cottage (房子) in the woods.

这些友好的动物们领着白雪公主到了森林里的一座小房子里。

“It’s like a doll’s house!” said Snow White. She knocked (敲门) at the door but no one answered. “May I come in?” she called. Slowly she stepped inside.

“这就像娃娃的房子呀！”白雪公主说道。她敲了敲门，可是没有人回答。“我能进来吗？”她大喊道。然后她就慢慢走了进去。
