近7成青年择偶'不愿将就'

Nearly 70% of youngsters "prefer waiting rather than compromising" when it comes to choosing their spouses, a report said. According to the report on contemporary youth's marriage viewpoint released by China Communist Youth League's network media center and love and marriage service committee of "Your Voices Our responsibilities", narrow social circle, busy work schedule, and lack of initiative are three main reasons behind staying single. 

团中央网络中心和"青年之声"婚恋服务委员会发布的《当代青年群体婚恋观调查报告》称，近七成青年择偶"宁愿等待不愿将就"。报告显示，交际圈小、工作忙和不主动是青年单身的三大原因。

The most important factors they value are "health" and "work ability". Meanwhile, "education qualification", "regional differences", "family background", and "income level" are paid less attention by youngsters. 

"健康"和"工作能力"是青年最为注重的因素，而对对方的学历、地域差异、家庭背景、收入水平的关注度则较低。

Contemporary youngsters choose their spouses in a more diversified way and focus more on "inherent compatibility" instead of the traditional concept of "a marriage between families of equal social rank". 

当代青年以更加多元化的方式择偶，他们更注重"内在的匹配度"，而非传统观念中的"门当户对"。

In the survey, half said the biggest stress for singles came from pressure from family members to marry, followed by public opinion and self-generated pressure.

在该调查中，有半数受访者称单身期间最大压力来自于家人的催婚，其次是社会舆论和自我压力。

As Asians get rich and healthy, "smart crops" will replace rice on future menus, according to Thomson Reuters Foundation.

About 90% of global rice production and consumption is in Asia, home to 60% of the world's population.

Yet, as trends in China, Japan and South Korea show, consumption is set to drop significantly as diets change. 

不过，从中国、日本、韩国的趋势可以看出，随着饮食发生变化，大米的消耗量将会出现大幅下降。

Alongside that the consumption of fish, meat, dairy, fruits and vegetables has risen significantly. The shift away from rice in wealthier Asian nations is explained by Bennett's Law, which argues that as income increases people spend proportionately less on starchy staples such as rice, experts said.

与此同时，鱼、肉、乳制品、水果和蔬菜的消耗量大幅上升。专家表示，亚洲富裕国家不再把大米作为主要食物的趋势符合贝内特定律，该定律认为，随着收入增加，人们对米饭等含大量淀粉的主食的消耗量会大幅减少。

Police captured a fugitive at a concert by pop star Jacky Cheung in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province last week. It was the third time in two months that facial recognition technology led to the arrest of a wanted person at one of Cheung's concerts.

凯蒂猫新干线粉嫩出发

This summer, Japan will be debuting a Hello Kitty-themed bullet train that will feature the feline character in all her Kawaii cuteness. 

今年夏天，日本将推出"凯蒂猫"主题新干线。这一可爱卡通形象成为车身的一大特色。

Set to make her maiden journey on June 30, the special train from West Japan Railway Co is being launched to promote destinations in western Japan. 

凯蒂猫主题新干线将从6月30日开始运行。西日本铁路公司推出这列新干线是为了推广日本西部的景点。

Called the Hello Kitty Shinkansen, the bullet train will be festooned with a pink ribbon motif to represent the "links" and "connection" between the passengers and the regional areas. 

凯蒂猫新干线的车身将用粉色丝带图案装饰，这代表着旅客和各地间的"联系"和"连接"。

Two of the train's cars will be plastered unapologetically with Hello Kitty's iconic, whiskered face, pink ribbon, hearts and bubbles and feature promotional material for areas like the Shimane, Tottori, Osaka, Hyogo, Okayama, Hiroshima, Yamaguchi and Fukuoka prefectures. 

这列新干线的两节车厢将粘满凯蒂猫的图标、凯蒂猫留有胡须的可爱脸庞、粉色丝带、心形图案、泡泡图案、以及岛根、鸟取、大坂、兵库、冈山、广岛、山口和福冈8个县市的主题宣传材料。

The train will also feature a space to buy Hello Kitty-branded merch; eat and drink; watch Hello Kitty films; and immortalize the experience on camera with a life-sized doll of Hello Kitty herself at the photobooth.

车厢中还设有专区，供游客购买凯蒂猫品牌商品及饮食，游客可以在这里观看凯蒂猫的相关影片，还可以在快照屋和真人大小的凯蒂猫玩偶合影，留下这段旅程的美好记忆。
