The US State Department wants to require all US visa applicants to submit their social media usernames, previous email addresses and phone numbers, vastly expanding the Trump administration's enhanced vetting of potential immigrants and visitors. 

继特朗普政府要求加大对潜在移民和访客的审查力度后，美国国务院大幅扩大了审查范围，计划要求所有美签申请者提交他们的社交媒体账号以及用过的电子邮箱地址和电话号码。

In documents published in the Federal Register, the department said it wants the public to comment on the proposed new requirements, which will affect nearly 15 million foreigners who apply for visas to enter the US each year. 

在《联邦政府纪事》上公布的文件中，美国国务院表示，新的签证审查要求将影响每年申请入境美国的近1500万外籍人士，对此将征求公众意见。

Previously, social media, email and phone number histories were only sought from applicants identified for extra scrutiny, such as those who have traveled to areas controlled by terrorist organizations.

此前，只有被列为需要"更严格审查"的申请者才需要提供社交媒体、电子邮箱和电话号码的历史记录，譬如那些曾去过恐怖组织控制地区旅行的申请者。

The Surrey theme park conducted research that showed that millennials' biggest fear is having their phones run out of power, so the device should prove popular.

All of the Walking Dead's carriages have been fitted with the harvesting devices, which not only suck up the energy of screams, but that from G-force and vibrations, too. The units are then removed from the carriages by staff and deposited into an on-site mobile charging point.

Charting a working lifespan of 40 years, a detailed computer simulation accurately reproduced the wealth distribution model of the real world, but found that those at the top of the money pile were the luckiest, not the most talented.

When the final results were analyzed, the wealth distribution looked much like it does in the real world, with around 20% of people owning 80% of the wealth. The simulation was repeated several times to check its integrity.

But the wealthiest 20% were not the most talented 20%, or indeed the least talented 20%: "The maximum success never coincides with the maximum talent, and vice-versa" according to the researchers. In fact, the top earners ended up being those with talent somewhere near the general average.

A Japanese prison in Tokushima converted a building to house elderly inmates, putting itself at the forefront of an effort to cope with Japan's graying prisoner population. It also employs a caregiver trained in working with the elderly for those in the hospital ward. 

日本德岛县的一所监狱改造了一栋建筑用于关押老年囚犯，成为应对日本囚犯人口老龄化的先行者。该监狱还为病房里的囚犯雇佣了一名专业的老年人护工。

The number of prisoners aged 60 or older has risen 7% from a decade ago to 9,308, and made up 19% of the entire prison population in Japan in 2016. That compares with only 6% of that age bracket in the US, and about 11% in South Korea. 

2016年，60岁及以上的日本囚犯人数达到9308名，在全国囚犯人数中的占比从10年前的7%增加到19%。而在美国和韩国，这一年龄段囚犯人数的比例分别约为6%和11%。

A sizable chunk of elderly inmates are repeat offenders, which experts say reflects the difficulties of finding jobs after release and coping with the uncertainty freedom brings.
