Oscar-winning film "The Shape ofWater" passed the 100 million yuan mark at the Chinese box office on Monday, according to Maoyan, a major film database in China. The film, which hit the Chinese screens on March 16, scored 7.3 out of 10 points based onnearly 167,000 reviews on Douban, a popular film rating platform in China. 

据国内大型电影数据库猫眼消息，26日，奥斯卡获奖影片《水形物语》在中国院线的票房突破1亿元大关。该片于本月16日在国内影院上线，其在我国颇受欢迎的影评平台豆瓣上的得分为7.3分(满分10分)，豆瓣基于近16.7万观众的评分给出了上述分数。

Directed by Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, the film is a story told in the form of a fairy tale, about a mute woman who falls for a mysterious, amphibious creature captured and subjected to secret experiments by the US military. "The Shape of Water" was a big winner at the 90th Academy Awards, winning four Oscars: Best Production Design, Best Score, as well as Best Director and Best Picture.

The rise in stock prices in 2017 boosted the average bonus paid to Wall Street workers who live in New York City to $184,220, up 17% from a yearearlier, according to an estimate released Monday by the New York State Comptroller. It was the second consecutive year workers in New York's financial services industry sawtheir bonuses jump by more than 15%.

Wall Street bonus pay dwarfs thetotal salary of the average American worker. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, median wage for workers in the US in the fourth quarter of 2017 was $44,564 per year.

A new pilot study from the US has shown freezing the nerve that carries hunger signals to the brain may be able help people lose weight. 10 people who had a high BMI (between 30 and 37) received a 90-day experimental procedure. 

美国一项初步研究显示，冷冻向大脑发送饥饿信号的神经可能有助于人们减肥。10名BMI(身体质量指数在30到37)显示肥胖的受试者接受了为期90天的试验性疗程。

Doctors inserted a needle into their backs and directed the needle to a specific nerve, the posterior vagal trunk, and froze the needle surrounding the nerve, which would stop the connection between part of the nerve and the brain. 

医生将一根针刺入受试者背部，引导针到达一条名为"迷走神经后干"的神经，再将该神经区冷冻，这将会阻隔部分神经与大脑之间的信号联系。

After the procedure, everyone reported a decreasein appetite. People lost an average of 3.6% of their initial body weight andhad a nearly 14% decrease in excess BMI.

School starting age lowered

Children in France will start school at the age of three instead of six, under new reforms announced by President Emmanuel Macron. The change will give France one of the lowest compulsory school starting ages in Europe.

But it will only affect a small number of children, as the majority of French families already choose to send their children to school at three. Macron saidthe change was intended to reduce inequality in education, as parents in poorer areas of France and in overseas territories are less likely to send their children to school at an early age.
