40.巴黎为奥运一搏Paris for 2024 Olympics
For this extremely hot summer there is one extremely hot event going on.The whole world has its eyes on the City of Light(光明之城). It has been 100 years since Olympians(奥运选手) last set foot on the streets of Paris. But today history is being made as the Olympics triumphantly return to Paris — for the third time!
Paris, a city where fine art and culture go hand in hand, has always been a center for innovation. It’s no surprise, then, that Paris has found exciting new ways to play its role in Olympic history. The Parade of Nations(各国入场式), which traditionally happens within the Olympic stadium during the opening ceremonies, has been transformed into a boat parade on the Seine River(塞纳河). Each national delegation, on its own craft, will float through the city. Surrounded by screaming fans on every side, the boats will eventually arrive at the Trocadéro(特罗卡德罗场馆) in the center of the city. In another historic first, the opening ceremony will be open to the public and free for most spectators(观众).
Many iconic landmarks(标志性地标) have also been transformed into venues(场地) for various sports. New construction for the event includes a temporary area near the Eiffel Tower(埃菲尔铁塔) for beach volleyball. Even the Château de Versailles(凡尔赛宫) is hosting equestrian events(马术比赛), among others!
The 2024 Paris Games aim to celebrate France’s diverse heritage(文化遗产) by extending events beyond the capital — way beyond.
But river parades, new venues and the inclusion of an overseas site aren’t the only new additions. Breaking, or break dancing(霹雳舞), will also make its official Olympic debut(亮相) in Paris. The competition will include 16 male break dancers and 16 female break dancers engaging in one-on-one battles set to a random(随机的) selection of music chosen by a DJ.
Finally, there is plenty of buzz around the young athletes, all of whom will push themselves to the limit at this year’s competition. Tune in(收看节目) from July 26 to August 11 and watch these stars shine bright in the 2024 Paris Olympics!
