US President Joe Biden addressed his decision to step aside from his campaign Wednesday, framing the 2024 election as a choice "between moving forward and backward, between hope and hate" and casting his decision as a matter of democracy.
当地时间7月24日，美国总统拜登就其结束连任竞选发表讲话。他表示，2024年大选是“在前进和后退、希望和仇恨之间”的选择，并将他的决定视为民主问题。

"America's going to have to choose between moving forward or backward, between hope and hate, between unity and division. We have to decide: Do we still believe in honesty, decency, respect, freedom, justice and democracy?" He said.
“我们必须在前进还是后退、希望还是仇恨、团结还是分裂之间做出选择。我们现在必须做出的决定：我们是否还相信正直、体面、尊重、自由、公正和民主？”他说。

"The next six months will be focused on doing my job as president," Biden said.

He also championed his vice-president, Kamala Harris, who's now taking his place on the ticket.
