The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Tuesday revised China's 2024 economic growth up to 5 percent in an update to its World Economic Outlook (WEO), from the 4.6-percent forecast in April.

日前，国际货币基金组织（IMF）发布了《世界经济展望报告》更新内容，预计2024年中国经济预期增长率为5%，较4月预测值提高了0.4个百分点。

The IMF maintained its forecast for global growth in 2024 at 3.2 percent, noting that Asia's emerging market economies remain the main engine for the global economy. Global activity and world trade firmed up at the turn of the year, with trade spurred by strong exports from Asia, particularly in the technology sector, the WEO update noted.

IMF预计2024年全球经济增长维持3.2%不变，并指出亚洲新兴市场经济体仍然是全球经济的主要引擎。报告指出，今年年初，全球经济活动和世界贸易有所增强，贸易受到亚洲强劲出口的推动，特别是这一地区在技术领域。

World trade volume is expected to grow by 3.1 percent in 2024 and 3.4 percent in 2025, each 0.1 percentage points higher than the April projection.

据报告预计，2024年和2025年的全球贸易量将分别增长3.1%和3.4%，分别比4月份的预测高出0.1个百分点。

"Asia's emerging market economies remain the main engine for the global economy. Growth in India and China is revised upwards and accounts for almost half of global growth," IMF Chief Economist Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas said in a blog.

IMF首席经济学家皮埃尔-奥利维耶·古兰沙在一篇博客中表示：“亚洲新兴市场经济体仍是全球经济的主要引擎。印度和中国的增长被上调，占全球增长的近一半。”

"Further challenges to disinflation in advanced economies could force central banks, including the Federal Reserve, to keep borrowing costs higher for even longer. That would put overall growth at risk, with increased upward pressure on the dollar and harmful spillovers to emerging and developing economies," Gourinchas also said.

古兰沙指出：“如果发达经济体抑制通胀进展不利，包括美联储在内的各国央行可能需要将借贷成本在更长时间内保持在较高水平，这不仅将威胁全球经济增长，加剧美元上行压力，还将对新兴和发展中经济体产生负面溢出效应。”

Anne Hidalgo, mayor of Paris, the city that is to host the upcoming Olympic Games, swam on Wednesday in the Seine to assure the cleanliness of the river ahead of the Olympic competitions.

巴黎奥运会临近之际，巴黎市长安妮·伊达尔戈17日跳入塞纳河中游泳，以证明塞纳河水质“足够干净”。

Accompanied by Tony Estanguet, president of the Paris 2024 Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Hidalgo said that the water was in "rather optimal conditions."

"It's cool but not cold at all. We didn't want to go out," she said.

After a 100-year ban on bathing in the river, athletes will take the plunge in just a few days during the Games, the City Hall of Paris said on its X account, adding that swimming in the Seine will also be open to the public as of next summer.
