"at school"和"in school"哪个是正确的表达？

At school和in school这两种表达都是正确的。

在美式英语中，两者用法有区别:

at school: “在学校”（表示学生在学校这个地方，相对于在家或在校外）

Where is your bag? I left it at school.
你的包在哪里? 我把它落在学校了。

in school：“在学校上学”（表示学生在上学/求学，相对于有工作）

Where does your daughter work? She’s still in school.
你女儿在哪里工作? 她还在上学。

例句对比

Jim is still at school. = Jim hasn’t come back home.
Jim还在学校。（言外之意他还没回到家。）

Jim is still in school. = Jim is still a student.
Jim还在上学。（言外之意他还是个学生。）

在英式英语中，at school既可以表示“在学校”，也可以表示“在上学”。
In school只表示“在上学”，在这层意思上和at school可以互换使用。

我们在学习中或许还见到过at the school和in the school，加上the之后意思还一样吗？

答案是：不一样。

定冠词the是特指，at/in the school特指在某一所学校，只表示一个地点，“在这个学校”的有可能是老师、家长或其他可能在学校出现的人或物。

Anna works as a teacher at/in the school.
安娜在学校当老师。

at the school和in the school的区别，可以参考之前讲过的at the park和in the park的区别，这里at和in的用法是一致的。

at：我们把一个地方当做一个“点”, 就像地图上可以标记的一个确切地点；假如这个地点有里外，at并不表明在里面还是外面。in：本义是“在……里面”, 我们把一个地方当做一个“范围或封闭的空间”，in指在这个地方的里面。

at the school 指在学校的一个具体地点，有可能在校门口、食堂、图书馆等。

in the school 指在学校范围的里面。

My mother was at the school for a parent-teacher meeting this morning. 
今天早上我妈妈在学校开家长会。

The parents are waiting for their children at the school gate.
家长们在校门口等着接他们的孩子。

There are 50 classrooms in the school.
学校里有50间教室。
