Collins Dictionary has named “AI” as its word of the year, defining it as an “abbreviation for artificial intelligence: the modeling of human mental functions by computer programs.”

《柯林斯词典》将AI选定为年度词汇。《柯林斯词典》对AI的定义是：“人工智能的缩写：通过计算机程序来模拟人类大脑功能”。

"Considered to be the next great technological revolution, AI has seen rapid development and has been much talked about in 2023,” the UK-based dictionary publisher said in a statement announcing its decision.

总部在英国的《柯林斯词典》出版方在发布年度词汇的声明中表示：“被视为下一个重大技术变革的AI迎来了飞速发展并在2023年被广泛讨论。”

While AI’s capabilities in mimicking human speech fascinated people at first, they were also the source of some anxiety, Collins said.

"If computers were suddenly experts in that most human of domains, language, what next? Cue an explosion of debate, scrutiny, and prediction, and more than enough justification for Collins’ 2023 Word of the Year: AI,” the statement continues.

Other contenders for Collins’ word of the year included “de-influencing,” when a social media influencer uses their popularity “to warn followers to avoid certain commercial products, lifestyle choices, etc,” as well as “nepo baby,” which refers to a person “whose career is believed to have been advanced by having famous parents.” Also on the shortlist were “canon event,” defined as an experience “essential to the formation of an individual’s character or identity,” and ”ultra-processed foods,” which are “prepared using complex industrial methods” and often consist of “ingredients with little or no nutritional value.”

In addition, Collins mentions the weight-loss drug “semaglutide,” also known as “Ozempic,” which became a sensation after appearing to help people lose weight by suppressing their appetites, as well as “greedflation,” a term that refers to the alleged practice of some businesses making excessive price hikes in a bid to maximize profits at a time of high inflation in the UK.

此外，《柯林斯词典》的年度词汇候选名单上还提到了减肥药司美格鲁肽semaglutide（也被称作奥泽匹克Ozempic），这种药由于被发现似乎能通过抑制食欲而帮助人们减肥而走红，还有“贪婪通胀”greedflation，指的是英国高通胀时期某些企业为了将利润最大化而过度涨价的行径。

“大V”前台实名！多家平台同日官宣

China's six most popular social media platforms as of Monday required the accounts of content creators, or influencers, with more than 500,000 followers, to show their real names or the names of their financial backers on their profile pages.

截至周一（10月31日），中国最受欢迎的6家平台纷纷宣布，将分批次、分阶段引导“粉丝”量50万以上的“自媒体”账号对外展示实名信息，账号注册主体为个人类型的将显示注册人真实姓名，机构类账号显示企业、机构名称，相关实名信息可在账号资料页进行查看。

In a statement issued on Monday evening, WeChat announced that it is implementing the policy to "enhance the credibility" of content creator accounts and "facilitate public supervision for the public interest". 

微信在公告中称，这一措施旨在增强头部“自媒体”账号可信度，便于公众为公共利益实施监督。

Individual WeChat accounts with more than 500,000 followers will display the registered individual's real name on their account profile. WeChat added that it encourages content creators to express themselves "truthfully" and provide users with "better quality and reliable content".

微信将分批次分阶段引导“粉丝”量50万以上的“自媒体”账号对外展示实名信息。平台鼓励“自媒体”创作者真实表达，为用户提供更优质、可信赖的内容。

Weibo will soon require content creator accounts with over 1 million followers in professional fields such as current affairs, military, finance, law and healthcare to provide real-name information. This will be gradually expanded to content creator accounts with over 500,000 followers in related fields, with front-end real-name display occurring only with user consent.

微博公告称，站方将于近期引导社会时事、军事、财经、法律、医疗等专业领域100万粉丝以上的“自媒体”账号填写实名信息，后续将逐步扩大到相关领域50万粉丝以上的“自媒体”账号，经用户同意后进行前台实名展示。

Regular users and accounts primarily focused on sharing personal daily life content will not be affected by front-end real-name display, according to a statement issued by Weibo.

普通用户及以个人日常生活分享为主的领域账号不受前台实名展示的影响。

Prominent content creators, due to their significant social influence, wield a much greater power over public opinion when discussing hot social topics than ordinary users. The implementation of real-name registration in the foreground is precisely aimed at urging these creators to shoulder a level of responsibility commensurate with their influential discourse, the statement said.

微博表示，各平台的头部“自媒体”大V因其拥有的社会影响力，在讨论社会时事热点时，具有远超普通用户的舆论引导作用，而前台实名的实施正是为了推动大V承担起与话语能量相匹配的责任，从而进一步推进网络舆论生态治理。
