Evening workouts can give you health benefits, including better sleep
晚上锻炼怕睡不着?
Getting adequate sleep is one of the best things you can do to maintain and improve your health. The same applies to regular exercise. Doing enough of both lowers risks for a number of diseases, boosts cardiovascular and mental health, protects the brain and much more.

Some people’s natural body clocks — chronotypes, which are what make some people night owls and others morning larks — or their work schedules allow them to get to sleep early and wake up early enough to fit in a workout before beginning the day’s tasks. Exercise, after all, is often considered a great way to wake up the body and mind.

Fortunately, research shows that although there are benefits to morning exercise, evening exercise is beneficial, too, and it doesn’t necessarily harm your sleep.

“If you have the luxury to be able to pick your time to do this, there are many reasons you’d want to be physically active earlier in the day,” says Marie-Pierre St-Onge, associate professor of nutritional medicine at Columbia University Medical Center and director of Columbia’s Center of Excellence for Sleep & Circadian Research. But if morning exercise doesn’t work with your schedule, getting some evening exercise may be your best bet. “Any physical activity is good,” St-Onge says.

If you are able to give yourself just a little time between your workout and bed, you can get the benefits of exercise — including better sleep — even with an evening workout. “It comes down to biological rhythms; everybody’s situation is different,” says Michael Rogers, a professor of human performance studies and the research director for the Center for Physical Activity and Aging at Wichita State University in Kansas.

‘Sea panda’harbor seal first appeared in Sanya waters

A harbor seal was recently spotted in waters near Sanya, Hainan province. Since it was first spotted near Wuzhizhou Island on Aug 23, divers have encountered it several times and filmed it lounging in the sea or climbing to rest on a float.
最近,一只斑海豹出现在海南省三亚附近海域。自从8月23日蜈支洲岛工作人员首次发现它以来,潜水员们已经多次和它偶遇,并拍摄到它时而在海里慵懒地游来游去,时而爬到浮漂上休息的画面。
Harbor seals are national first-class protected wild animals, living in temperate coastal areas, such as the Bering Sea and the Sea of Japan in the North Pacific. In China, this species is mainly found in the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea, and where they were recorded in the southernmost part of China is Guangdong province.

Harbor seals primarily swim by using their hind legs and the back of their bodies to propel themselves forward. They are highly skilled divers, making an average of more than 30 dives per day, with the ability to reach depths of up to 300 meters and stay submerged for over 20 minutes before needing to resurface. When swimming on the surface, harbor seals can achieve speeds of up to 27 kilometers per hour.
斑海豹游泳时主要依靠后肢和身体的后部左右摆动前进,很擅长潜水,平均每天潜水30多次,能潜入100多米甚至300米深的水中,并能持续20分钟以上。在水面游泳的时候,斑海豹的速度可以达到每小时27公里。
Harbor seals can only use their forelimbs and upper body to move on land, resulting in a somewhat silly and cute appearance. They often capture the hearts of numerous fans when seen in zoos and are affectionately referred to as "sea pandas".

Wang Aimin, a professor at Hainan University who is an expert in the Wuzhizhou Island Marine Ranch National Demonstration zone, said: "The recent survey shows that the fishery resources in the Wuzhizhou Island marine ranch area have increased by more than two times in the past decade, and the fishery resources in the artificial reef area are nearly five times higher than the surrounding area, and the live coral coverage of the coral reef has increased from 18 percent to 25 percent."
海南大学教授、蜈支洲岛海洋牧场国家示范区专家王爱民说:“近期调查表明,蜈支洲岛海洋牧场海域渔业资源近十年来增长了2倍以上,在人工鱼礁区渔业资源是周边区域的近5倍,珊瑚礁的活珊瑚覆盖率由原来的18%提高到了25%。”
