小学英文词汇里的尴尬陷阱－中式英语扫雷

Three types ofChinglish三类中式英语:

1.    Makes sense but sounds awkward      能听懂但有点别扭

2.    Does not make sense                             听不懂

3.    Leads to misunderstanding                   会造成误解

Boy/Girl

尴尬示例: (Adults saying) as a girl/boy, I…  作为一个女孩纸／男孩纸

正确用法: woman/man, female/male          

Play

尴尬示例: Would you like to play together?

尴尬示例: Next time come to my home and play

正确用法：play a sport, play a musical instrument, play a game.

Bad

尴尬示例: You are very bad.        你坏死了（脑补情侣间打情骂俏）

正确用法：The situation is really bad.

He is a bad driver.

Naughty

尴尬示例：He (adult) did something really naughty.  （脑补一脸猥琐暧昧的表情）

正确用法：My three-year-old daughter can be very naughty.

Dirty

尴尬示例: He is so dirty.     

正确用法: He is so messy/scruffy.   凌乱肮脏/（衣着）邋遢

                    This shirt is very dirty.

Hot

尴尬示例: I’m so hot.    

正确用法: It is so hot inside/outside.

Silly

尴尬示例: (to a colleague) you are very silly.   傻样˜ （脑补打情骂俏）

正确用法: (To family/partner/intimate friends) Silly, I cannever stay mad at you.

Special

尴尬示例: You are special.    （关爱脑残的眼神）

正确用法: You are very unique/ You are special to me. 你独一无二／你对我来说很特别

Lover

尴尬示例: (Pointing at your husband/wife) this is my lover. 这是我情人

正确用法: Valentine’s day is for lovers.

Partner

Business partner or life partner 生意伙伴还是人生伴侣

Sentence:

尴尬示例: What’s wrong with you? （挑衅）你什么毛病呀？

正确用法: What’s the matter? What’s wrong?  （关切）怎么了？
