He has two garages. One garage is in Silbury and the other one is in Pinhurst.

The distance between the two garages is only 5 miles.

但是不幸的是，James无法给新的汽车修理部装上电话。

But unfortunately, James is not able to get a telephone for the new garage.

It is probably because the new garage is too far away. So the telephone service doesn’t cover that area.

但是他已经想到了一个很棒的办法来解决通信的问题。

But he has come up with a great idea to solve the problem of communication.

是什么办法呢？他刚买了12只鸽子在两个汽车修理部之间传递信息。

What is the idea? He has just bought 12 pigeons to carry messages from one garage to the other.

这些鸽子飞得很快，只要三分钟就能行驶完全程。

The birds can fly very fast, as they can cover the distance in just three minutes.

用这种办法，鸽子成为了James的私人电话业务。

In this way, the pigeons have become the private “telephone” service for James.
