Chinese enterprises' outbound direct investment witnessed steady growth last year, with more than 70 percent maintaining or expanding their scale of offshore investment over the period, the country's top foreign trade and investment promotion agency said on Wednesday.
中国国际贸易促进委员会周三表示，去年中国企业对外直接投资稳步增长，超过70%的企业保持或扩大了海外投资规模。

In 2022, more than 80 percent of enterprises were optimistic about the growth prospects of foreign investment and about 90 percent were sanguine on investment opportunities in member countries of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, according to a new survey released by the Beijing-based China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

位于北京的中国贸促会最新发布的调查显示，2022年，超八成企业对未来对外投资发展前景持较为乐观态度；约九成企业看好区域全面经济伙伴关系协定（RCEP）国家投资机遇。

The survey found polled enterprises have been generally satisfied with China's foreign investment policies and support services, and hope to further facilitate approvals and filings, simplify foreign exchange management, increase credit support and strengthen compliance management.

调查显示，受访企业对中国对外投资政策和服务体系总体满意，希望进一步便利审批备案、简化外汇管理、增加信贷支持、加强合规管理。

Last year, despite an adverse external environment, China's ODI reached 985.37 billion yuan, up 5.2 percent year-on-year. Investment mainly flowed into sectors such as manufacturing, wholesale and retail. ODI in wholesale and retail sectors reached $21.1 billion, up 19.5 percent on a yearly basis, the Ministry of Commerce said earlier this month.

在外部环境不利的情况下，2022年全行业对外直接投资9853.7亿元人民币，同比增长5.2%。其中，投向批发和零售业、制造业的对外投资增速较快。商务部本月早些时候公布的数据显示，批发和零售业的对外直接投资达到211亿美元，同比增长19.5%。

After China optimized its COVID-19 response measures and resumed quarantine-free cross-border travel in January after nearly three years, more domestic enterprises have been going abroad to expand their markets and log more orders.

The RCEP agreement, which took effect on Jan 1, 2022, includes 15 Asia-Pacific countries. In the latest development, the Philippines' legislature ratified the pact on Tuesday. The agreement is expected to reduce up to 90 percent of tariffs on goods traded among members over the next two decades.

Human error likely cause of Greek train crash

One of Greece's worst-ever rail disasters, which claimed at least 43 lives, was due to "tragic human error", the country's prime minister has said. PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke after visiting the site of Tuesday night's head-on collision between a passenger service and a freight train.
