582 - Have you seen a dog with a cone? 你见过头戴“甜筒”的狗吗

When dogs and cats have surgery (手术), the vet （兽医）will put a plastic cone （锥体） around their head so that they won’t lick （舔） their wounds （伤口）. Do you think they like the cone? No, absolutely not! They simply hate it! Having a cone around their head makes it hard to see, to eat, and also, to get close to their owners. From my cat Bobo’s experience, she would try every method to get away from the cone.

In this picture, the poor dog is wearing a huge cone. I’m sorry he has to go through this change, but I’m sure he is a beloved member of the family. Look at the toy mouse he’s got on the carpet! Maybe he was trying to pick up the toy mouse to cheer himself up. This was something he could easily accomplish (达成) before, but now it has become a mission （任务）impossible.

What’s the little boy doing in the picture? Is he making fun of the poor dog? No. The boy is rubbing （蹭）his little nose with the dog’s nose.  The cone is big enough to embrace （环绕、包含） the little boy’s head. Instead of the dog coming to his owner, his owner came to cheer him up! They were looking at each other eye-to-eye, as if saying “I love you no matter what. The pain is only temporary （短暂的）. Everything will become much better. I promise”
