【解释】

The status quo is the state of affairs that exists at a particular time, especially in contrast to a different possible state of affairs. 现状

The phrase originates from the Latin language which mean and literally translates in “the state in which”.

【例句】

Don’t take risks. Stick with the status quo.

别去冒险。维持现状。

He is content with the status quo and does not like change.

他安于现状，不喜欢改变。

【备注】

content做形容词，读 /kənˈtent/，意思是“满足的”；作名词读/ˈkɑːntent/，意思是“内容”。

Certain people always want to maintain the status quo.

有些人总是想维持现状。

【解释】

to continue with a process, effort, etc., even though it is difficult

【例句】
