Two activists of the environmental protest group Just Stop Oil were charged with criminal damage to the frame of Vincent van Gogh’s painting Sunflowers. Anna Holland, 20, from Newcastle, and Phoebe Plummer, 21, from Lambeth, south-west London, both pleaded not guilty. The pair threw tomato soup over the painting at London’s National Gallery. The work - worth £76million - is fortunately protected by a sheet of glass and not damaged.
