I was made redundant froma logistics planning role for a car manufacturer and was interviewed for asimilar job in a car component supplier. My job profile met their requirements,I was offered the job on the spot and even given a start date. I was told Iwould be getting an offer letter in a matter of days. One week went by and Ihad not seen a letter. I telephoned but no-one was available. I called inpersonally but no one in the department had heard of me. Some weeks later, Ifound out that the HR guy wanted me but the supervisor of the logistics team(who was approaching retirement age) was frightened I would be promoted abovehim, so went for someone less qualified.
