A giant panda named Ershun gave birth to twin cubs at a zoo in Chongqing municipality. They are in good condition at present, the zoo announced. This was Ershun's second delivery of twins. The cubs weighed 132 grams and 91 grams when they were born. They have since reached a weight of 420 grams and 257 grams. Born in August 2007, Ershun lived in Canada's Toronto Zoo and Calgary Zoo as a goodwill envoy between March 2013 and November 2020. A total of 21 pandas currently live in the Chongqing Zoo, which began breeding giant pandas in the 1960s.  
重庆动物园海归大熊猫“二顺”归国后首次生产，成功产下一对雄性双胞胎。这是“二顺”第二次成功产下双胞胎，两只幼崽哥哥初生体重132克，弟弟初生体重91克。目前，两只幼仔的体重分别达到了420克和257克。大熊猫“二顺”出生于2007年8月，曾作为友好使者在2013年3月至2020年11月期间旅居加拿大多伦多动物园和卡尔加里动物园。据悉，重庆动物园于上世纪60年代开始饲养大熊猫，现共有大熊猫21只。

Brits face poverty with energy bills

Nearly one-third of households in the United Kingdom will face poverty this winter after paying energy bills set to soar again in January, campaigners say. About 10.5 million households will be in fuel poverty for the first three months of next year, according to estimates from the End Fuel Poverty Coalition published on Tuesday — meaning their income after paying for energy will fall below the poverty line. January's forecast represents a 116 percent increase in energy bills from current levels. As fuel prices surge, estimates are having trouble keeping pace. The average UK household bill has already risen 54 percent this year, exacerbating a cost-of-living crisis that has forced many Britons to choose between "heating and eating."

Liu Qingyi, a 16-year-old girl from Central China's Henan Province, won the global breakdance competition at the Outbreak Europe 2022 in Slovakia, achieving a major breakthrough by becoming the first Chinese B-girl to ever win. The much-anticipated event saw more than 600 people from over 30 countries around the world participating. In the final, Liu prevailed against the famous Dutch veteran India.

Under the Black Sea Initiative, 12 vessels have been authorized to depart Ukrainian ports, a United Nations official coordinating the grain export deal said on Wednesday. These ships contain "over 370,000 metric tons of grain and other food stocks," Frederick Kenney, interim coordinator for the UN at the Joint Coordination Center for the Black Sea Initiative, said at a regular press briefing held at UN headquarters in New York via video link from Istanbul. The deal is off to a very good start, Kenney said, noting a big "uptick" in applications for transit is expected. "We still have much work ahead of us to ensure that the implementation of the initiative translates into real results to address food insecurity around the globe and to stabilize global food markets," he said. On July 22, Russia and Ukraine signed a deal with Türkiye and the United Nations to allow food and fertilizer exports from three Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea.
