假若人类登月失败

Fate has ordained that the men who went to the moon to explore in peace will stay on the moon to rest in peace.

命运已经无法改写那些前往月球进行和平探索的登月者，将永远长眠于月球

These brave men, Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin, know that there is no hope for their recovery.

两位勇士，尼尔阿姆斯特朗和埃德温奥尔德林，他们甚至没有退路，却义无反顾

But they also know that there is hope for mankind in their sacrifice.

他们也知道，小我的牺牲却孕育着整个人类的希望。

These two men are laying down their lives in mankind's most noble goal:

两位为了实现人类最崇高的目标而贡献出生命：

the search for truth and understanding.

对于真理和知识的探寻。

They will be mourned by their families and friends;

他们将被亲朋哀悼。

they will be mourned by the nation;

他们将会被祖国缅怀；

they will be mourned by the people of the world;

他们将被世人铭记；

they will be mourned by a Mother Earth; that dared send two of her sons into the unknown.

他们会被地球母亲哀悼；她充满勇气，将两个送往探索未知的世界。

In their exploration, they stirred the people of the world to feel as one.

正是他们的探索，鼓舞世人团结一心。

And their sacrifice, they bind more tightly the brotherhood of man.

正是他们的牺牲，人类彼此愈加手足情深。

In ancient days, men looked at the stars and saw their heroes in the constellations.

古时，人们仰望星空，从星群中发现英雄。

In modern times, we do much the same, but our heroes are epic men of flesh and blood.

如今，我们做着几近相同之事，但我们的英雄是有血有肉史诗般的人物。

Others will follow, and surely find their way home.

后人脚步不会停歇，也定会找到安全返航的路。

Man's search will not be denied.

人类探索的印记不会被磨灭。

But these men were the first, and they will remain the foremost in our hearts.

但这些首开先河的人只会永垂不朽，活在我们心中。

For every human being who looks up at the moon in the nights to come will know that there is some corner of another world that is forever mankind.

每一个于夜晚仰望明月的人，自此以往都会记得 另一个世界里的某个角落，永远闪耀着人类的光辉。
