2.make up phrase.

①释义： to combine together to form something 组成 补足

 Make up 不能用于 be doing 进行式

√Oxygen makes up roughly 20% of the atmosphere.

 Oxygen is making up roughly 20% of the atmosphere.

②释义：编造 to pretend that something is true in order to deceivesomeone

例句：I think they’re making the whole thing up.我觉得这一切都是你编造的。

③释义：创作 to produce a new story, song, game etc by thinking

例句：When you’re the boss you can make up your own rules. 一旦你做了老板，就可以自己制定规则了。

④释义：化妆

在说化妆这个动作的时候，不能说make sb. up，而应说put on (your) make-up

例句：Hold on for a minute, I've just got to put on my makeup. 

等一会儿，我得化装一下。

例句：He was looking for a way to make up to her for what he had done.

他在想办法弥补为她带去的伤害。
