I have no idea what that actually means.

But I've watched the movie Free Guy 
但我看过电影《失控玩家》


and that's quite close to what I imagine 
它差不多就是


the "metaverse" to be in my mind.

So today we might get a better idea of

what the "metaverse" really looks like

as we are at an exhibition hosted by Baidu,

We will enter a "metaverse" ourselves
接下来我们将走进一个“元宇宙”


although I'm still not sure

how that's made possible.
它是怎样实现的

Now, we are already in a virtual world created by Baidu. 
我们现在已经进入了一个百度创造的虚拟世界 


This is the virtual version of me.
这是虚拟的我


And this is me, Box.
这是我 Box


It's a bit surreal. 
这就有点超现实了


We are not with each other physically, 
实际上 我们并不在一块


but virtually we are walking alongside each other .
但在这个世界里 我们正并肩而行


and talking as if we are together
一起聊天


Maybe we should show our viewers  
也许我们应该告诉观众


how we get into this universe?

If you are an experienced video game player

you'll find this process extremely familiar.

Yeah. We start with creating our avatars.

And then, here we are,

the virtual us in a virtual world. 
这就是虚拟世界里虚拟的我们


Baidu named this world "Xi Rang". 
百度将这个世界命名为“希壤”


It's a Chinese legend of soil 
它取自“息壤” 那是一种传说中


that can grow continuously by itself. 
可以自己生长的土壤


And let's review what "metaverse" really means.

It is a combination of multiple high-tech elements,

and makes users like us feel like they are

It's like a complex video game for me,

but with way more social features.

And actually Baidu is hosting its

annual creator summit in this world.

We are now in the conference room.

We are told it can host

a hundred thousand audiences at the same time

made possible thanks to the cloud technology.

And I definitely expect

But it's still like a cartoon world for me,

not totally real.

We are still quite early in this "metaverse" thing,

I guess that's why.

I guess that's the point of the whole metaverse idea:

to break the physical boundaries,

to get you to places you've never been,

to show you stuff not presentable in reality.

And to connect you with people far away! 
让你远方的朋友近在咫尺


What we see today is a very basic version of the metaverse.
我们今天看到的只是“元宇宙”的基础版本


But it's already quite exciting! 
已经很精彩了


There are definitely more possibilities. 
未来肯定还会有更多的可能性


And we are expecting that.
