resolution本意是决心的意思。 new year's resolution指的就是人们在新的一年中要做成的某件事情或者说目标。

How many times have we made a New Year’s resolution, and which of the resolutions have we actually achieved?  

我们多少次下了新年决心，而哪些真正实现了的？ 

My new year's resolution is to travel more. 

我的新年愿望是要多去旅行。
