Hello everyone, welcome to my channel. This is Elise. So the new year is approaching..

1) Stop feeling obligated to deal with people you don’t like.

This might present its own set of challenges. However, I’ve gotten old enough to not care! For so long I’ve felt obligated to deal with some people just because they are so-called friends and family. Family or not, if you’re a negative, nay-saying, attacking (physically, spiritually, and mentally) kinda person, I’m just not going to deal with you. I don’t have time for the shenanigans. I need people in my life who are going to uplift and encourage others.

2) Use your brain to think, not to remember things.

I don’t know where I saw the saying above, but it was like a lightbulb moment for me. Mainly because I used to remember a lot of stuff and it seems the days were slipping past me. My days were unstructured and I really didn’t know whether I was coming or going. So one day, I decided to jot down everything that I need to remember. I’ve also created my own planning system. You might want to discover what suits you the best. This way, it leaves you with more time to reflect on the past and think ahead.

3) Ditch a vice a month.

Vices; we’ve all got them, and we all want rid of them. However, trying to give up every single bad habit you have all at once is never going to end well. It’s far more realistic to pick one vice (preferably the worst one) and try to give it up. Make sure you tell as many people as possible that you’re trying to kick it, so that you’re accountable to someone other than just yourself if you slip up.

4) Treat your goals as your projects.

I’m a goal-oriented person. So this year, I’ve set myself a couple of tasks that I need to complete, like publishing a book, picking up my tik-tok videos and minimizing my wardrobe. I don’t have to do them everyday, I only need to review them every two weeks or every month. As long as I know I’m meeting the deadline, I’m making progress, then I’m still good.

5) It’s OK if you’re not making progress everyday.

You don’t have to make giant strikes towards your goals every day or every week. It’s inching. I don’t care if you’re learning English and you only did 30 minutes, followed by 23.5 hours of nothingtoday. Today, you did something, meaning you inched a little closer to your goal. We have a bad habit of forgetting how far we’ve come. We’re impatient. So remember how far you’ve come.

6)Practice Gratitude

This is a seemingly simple strategy. There are lots of ways to practice gratitude, from keeping a journal of things you're grateful for, sharing three good things that happen each day with a friend or your partner, and going out of your way to show gratitude when others help you.
