LA Liberte ou LA Mort! 实际上，电影也好歌剧也罢，因为时长和叙事紧凑，相对于原著它们都删除了很多details!此外，如果能了解当时刚好是波旁王朝才复辟的时期，以及法国混乱疫情的背景，就能理解Jean偷面包的合理性以及王室政府对平民的不信任和由此产生的法律的严苛（偷个包19年我去）了。有趣的是，本期提到的Jean和Javert，结局一个虽死犹生，一个坦然殉道，他们的现实原型竟然是一个人，Hugo的好友，弗朗索瓦本身的故事已经相当精彩了，而且现实中结局并不是悲剧。等等。所以，了解更多的背景知识和原著细节能够更好的帮我们了解这部歌剧呢！

Hugo is definitely a great master！I've gotta take him more than hearsay when I get details about the novel. 再细品这部作品，特别是联系到作品背景下的真实法国历史，只会觉得以前还是太年轻了！Jean的成长和redemption很精彩毋庸置疑，最多再推演到当时的Revolution，但作品中对Javert的刻画也同样出彩：人性！小人物的：理想！信念！信仰！坚持！秘密警察沙威身上我看到了逆转系列的不择手段捍卫法律的“狩魔豪”。六月革命中的守城士兵们该死吗？什么才是善？恶？对错又是另一回事了！

I have grown interest in reading the novel again because of your great introduction. I remember reading it in childhood but I did't understand it then. I really appreciate your wonderful sharing and I'm looking forward to listen more.
