小王子18章-19章

Thelittle prince crossed the desert and met with only one flower. It was a flowerwith three petals, a flower of no account at all.

小王子穿过沙漠。只遇到过一朵花，一朵有三片花瓣的花，一朵毫不起眼的花。

"Goodmorning," said the little prince.

“早上好，”小王子说。

"Goodmorning," said the flower.

“早上好，”花说。

"Whereare the men?" the little prince asked, politely.

“请问哪里有人？”小王子礼貌的询问。

Theflower had once seen a caravan passing.

这朵花曾经见过一只沙漠商队从这里经过。

"Men?"she echoed. "I think there are six or seven of them in existence. I sawthem, several years ago. But one never knows where to find them. The wind blowsthem away. They have no roots, and that makes their life very difficult."

“人？”他重复了一遍。“我想有六七个吧，我几年前，见过他们。但谁也不知道该去哪儿找他们。风吹着他们到处跑，他们没有根。这让他们的生活很麻烦。”

"Goodbye,"said the little prince.

“再见，”小王子说。

"Goodbye,"said the flower.

“再见，”花说。

Afterthat, the little prince climbed a high mountain. The only mountains he had everknown were the three volcanoes, which came up to his knees. And he used theextinct volcano as a footstool. "From a mountain as high as thisone," he said to himself, "I shall be able to see the whole planet atone glance, and all the people…"

接下来，小王子登上了一座高山。以前他所见过的山，只有那三座和他膝盖差不多高的火山，并且他经常把那座死火山当成板凳来坐。“站在这么高的山上，”小王子自言自语地说，“我一眼就能看到整个星球和所有的人......”

Buthe saw nothing, save peaks of rock that were sharpened like needles.

但除了像针一样尖尖的山峰，他什么也没有看到。

"Goodmorning," he said courteously.

“早上好，”他礼貌地说。

"Goodmorning--Good morning--Good morning," answered the echo.

“早上好，早上好，早上好，”回音回答道。

"Whoare you?" said the little prince.

“你们是谁？”小王子问。

"Whoare you--Who are you--Who are you?" answered the echo.

“你们是谁---你们是谁---你们是谁？”回音回答到。

"Bemy friends. I am all alone," he said.

“做我的朋友吧。我很孤独，”小王子说。

"Iam all alone--all alone--all alone," answered the echo.

“我很孤独---很孤独---很孤独，”回音又回答到。

"Whata queer planet!" he thought. "It is altogether dry, and altogetherpointed, and altogether harsh and forbidding. And the people have noimagination. They repeat whatever one says to them… On my planet I had aflower; she always was the first to speak…"

“这真是颗奇怪的星球！”小王子想。“这里不仅干燥，而且到处都是尖尖的，粗糙的，真是令人生畏，这里的人们一点想象力都没有。她们只会重复别人对他们说的话......在我的星球上。我有一朵花，她总是第一个开口说话......”
