He lived in a nursing home.

"I don't have anything to do," he told the nurse.

"Why don't you watch TV?" she asked.

"I hate watching TV. TV is nothing but reruns," he said.

"Why don't you play chess?" she asked.
“你为什么不下棋呢？”她问道。
"I hate playing chess," he said. "I always lose."
“我讨厌下棋。我总是输，”他说道。
"Why don't you play cards?" she asked.
“你为什么不玩牌呢？”她问道。
"I hate playing cards. The others always cheat," he said.
“我讨厌打牌。别人总是作弊，”他说道。
"Why don't you read a book?" she asked.
“你为什么不读书呢？”她问道。
"I hate reading books," he said. "They give me a headache."
“我讨厌读书。它们让我头疼，”他说道。
"Why don't you take a nice walk?" she asked.
“你为什么不出去散个步呢？”她问道。
"I hate taking walks," he said. "It's always too hot outside."
“我讨厌散步。外面总是太热了，”他说道。
"Why don't you take a nap?" she asked.
“你为什么不小睡一会儿呢？”她问道。
"That's a good idea," he said. "I like taking naps."
“好主意，”他说。“我喜欢小睡一会儿。”
